The build
A raised wood deck run off the back of the house and finished in a warm brown solid stain that carries across the boards, the railing, and the stairs so the whole structure reads as one piece. A cedar pavilion sits over the far end, its posts and gabled roof left natural to stand off the stained deck, with a light fixture under the roof so the covered end stays usable after the sun drops.
The covered end holds the grills and a dining set; the open end looks out over a fenced backyard and the tree line for the long evening light. Pressure-treated framing carried up on support posts to bring the deck level with the main floor, wood railing with vertical balusters around the perimeter, and wide stairs with a rail on both sides landing on a poured pad at grade.
